Together, the Hill Family Foundation for Art and Music and the Lewis Eady Charitable Trust work to serve our promising emerging musicians. We acknowledge the profound impact the pandemic has had on this age group – it has denied not only opportunities, but has in many ways lost them income and the stamina, purpose and drive to keep practicing. We applaud our competitors’ resilience in the face of ongoing deferrals and, through grit and dogged perseverance, we will make this competition happen for them. As they say, the show must go on.

It is because of our honourable sponsors and patrons, who have stood behind us through the turbulent months, that we are able to remain steadfast in our commitment. Thank you to Craigs Investment Partners, Nockie’s Palette Wine, Chiron Group, and the Hill Family Foundation as well as our prize donors (please see them below).

LEWIS EADY
NATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION

PRESENTED BY LEWIS EADY CHARITABLE TRUST

10 - 12 FEBRURAY 2022

The Lewis Eady National Piano Competition will bring together 15 of New Zealand's finest young pianists for an intensive and inspiring two days of music-making.

Since 2013, this biennial competition has inspired, surprised, and delighted music enthusiasts, and has successfully launched the careers of many Kiwi artists, including Jason Bae (Steinway Artist) and Somi Kim (NZTrio).

Each competitor will perform two 30-minute recital programmes of their choice. The repertoire must include a work by a New Zealand composer. The adjudicator will select three competitors to compete in the Grand Final on Saturday 12 February, in conjunction with the National String Competition.
