SHAN LIU, 12

Shan Liu is 12 years old. He began learning the piano before his seventh birthday with Xi Jiang and is currently studying with Stephen De Pledge. Shan also receives musical guidance from Jian Liu, Sarah Watkins and Xing Wang. He has enjoyed many local, national and international competition successes, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Eighth Macao Piano Competition and Championship Prizes at the Fifth Freiburg EU Conservatory of Music Youth Piano Competition and the 11th Shanghai International Youth Piano Competition. He won first prizes at the Cesar Franck International Piano Competition (Belgium), the PianoTalent Online Competition (Italy), and Kings Peak International Piano Competition (USA). In August 2019 Shan was awarded a full scholarship to Germany in order to participate in a masterclass with Manfred Fock at the Lübeck Conservatory of Music. In 2020 he was the youngest finalist in the New Zealand Junior Piano Competition.

Besides piano performance, Shan likes swimming, reading and playing chess.
