JIE LIANG, 16


Jie Liang was born in October 2005. His current teachers are Boris Berman, Head of Piano at the Yale School of Music and Songwen Li, Chairman of Piano at Xinghai Conservatory. He is currently a Year 11 student at King’s College, Auckland, and gained his LRSM in 2019. In October 2019 he performed Beethoven’s “Appassionata” Sonata at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC. He has won prizes in many international piano competitions and festivals, including the 2018 Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory International Master Music Competition and the 2019 Washington International Piano Festival. From January 2021 to June 2021, he has won many international online piano competitions, totalling more than 40 awards.

Besides loving piano, Jie also has a passion for Biology and Mathematics. He is a member of a chamber group at King’s College and is planning to study in the United States next year.
